Healthcare projects in western UP to be expedited

Lucknow, Dec 4 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government has asked officials and departments to expedite work on various healthcare projects in western parts of the state.

A medical university at Greater Noida and a post-graduate super-specialty paediatric hospital and medical college at Noida was cleared by the state government a few months back.

Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anil Kumar Gupta has directed the Greater Noida and Noida Industrial Development Authority officials to form a purchase committee for procurement of necessary machines and equipment strictly as per the guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI).

Gupta said purchase of machines should be need-based and on recommendations of technical experts, so that they were optimally utilized.

Gupta told IANS Tuesday that "development of high end modern health facilities and medical education institutes in western Uttar Pradesh is one of the priorities of the State government, it is crucial to meet the needs of population in the region".

The process for transfer of land and construction activity along with creation of necessary posts to start the institutes and facilities has also being asked for at the earliest, he said.

Around 25 acres of land is to be transferred to medical university at Greater Noida, whereas, the post graduate super-specialty paediatric hospital and medical college at Noida will be developed vertically by increasing floor area ratio (FAR) on the already available land of about 7000 sq metres.

About the post graduate super-specialty paediatric hospital and medical college at Noida, it was informed that a consultant will be selected within two weeks to prepare the detailed project report (DPR).

In addition to other facilities, this state-of-the-art new hospital will have a trauma centre along with the office of chief medical officer. This project is expected to be functional by the end of current financial year.
