Rs.35 lakh robbed on knife point
New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS) Four masked men robbed Rs.35 lakh from the house of a property dealer after threatening his wife with a knife Monday afternoon, police said.
The incident was reported around 12.30 p.m. from north Delhi's Timarpur.
The accused allegedly barged into the house of Mohammed Shahabuddin, a property dealer, when his wife Mumtaz was alone with her two sons − a three year old and a six months old.
"The robbers held Mumtaz hostage on knife point and robbed off Rs. 35 lakh cash, that was collected by the property dealer in a dealing of a plot. The accused fled from the spot after tying up the hands and legs of the victim," said a police officer.
Her elder son managed to untie his mother after which she reported the matter to police.
A case has been registered and probe is on.
"It seems that there is an insider's role behind the robbery as the accused did not try to touch any other valuables of the house. Now, police is probing from all possible angles including the role of an insider, who might have known that there was such a huge amount in the house," said the officer.
Shahabuddin lives with his wife and five children at the second floor of a four−storey building situated in Timarpur's B block area.
"At the time of the incident Shahabuddin was out of the house while his three other children had gone to school," said the officer.
