French agnecy to give Rs.372 crore aid to Assam

Guwahati, June 8 (IANS) The Assam government Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with French development agency, Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD), for a Rs.372 crore worth aid to the state.

According to the MoU, the French agency will provide an assistance of Rs.372 crore to Assam for capacity building, infrastructure creation, plantations and providing livelihood support to people of villages on the fringe of forests in the state.

Although various international agencies have been funding several wildlife conservation and development activities in Assam, this is the first project of the AFD in Assam. It will continue for five years.
